Guest Musician: Saxophone
If you hear soulful saxophone melodies weaving through our plays, chances are Rocco is somewhere nearby, praising Jesus with every note. Known affectionately as Rock he’s a man of simple style (think buzz cut, casual clothes, Grillo’s half sour pickles in hand) with a faith that runs deep and wide. When Rocco isn’t serving his church, serenading his grandkids, or pursuing his beautiful, Jesus-loving wife, Judy (in a good way, not a stalker way), he’s likely studying scripture, reading 'Jesus Style' by Gale Irwin, or planning his bucket list adventures – from seeing Israel to jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Ask him for his favorite movie line and he’ll channel The Princess Bride with a charming “As you wish.” He doesn’t dance to Mercy Me in his living room (he promises), he cherishes memories of tuna fish sandwiches with Mom while watching Hollywood Squares, and keeps an old antique wash basin table just because it’s cool. Above all, Rocco wants you to know one thing: He’s madly in love with Jesus. His hero? Besides Jesus Himself, Oswald Chambers. His heart? Fully devoted to advancing the Kingdom, playing music for the One who gave him his song.
"What attracted me to Plays On Word was Ted's passion for the Word of God, Katie's devotion to the ministry and to her husband, and the absolute powerful presence of Jesus in the both of them. I love how the Lord is using this ministry to bring to life, His word and His love. Especially overseas where a lot of folks are missing the freedom to worship freely."
Rocco DiGregorio is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who radiates a passion for Jesus in every area of his life. At 57 years old, he is the grateful husband of Judy, his “gorgeous Proverbs 31 Jesus girl,” and together they share a blended legacy of four incredible children and eight beloved grandchildren. Since surrendering his life to Christ in 1999, Rocco has experienced God’s sustaining grace through trials, toils, and snares—always proclaiming, “Thank You, Jesus! I love You soooo much!”
Professionally, Rocco serves as a plant operator at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Middletown, New Jersey. His hands may be busy repairing machines and managing maintenance tasks, but his heart is always tuned to heaven. Each day, he seeks divine appointments—moments when the Lord opens doors to pray with and minister to those walking through some of life’s most difficult battles. He considers it a great joy to work alongside his best friend and spiritual brother, Jules Johnson. Together, they keep their mission clear: to make much of Jesus.
Rocco also holds a New Jersey HVAC Master Contractor’s License, allowing him to do heating and air conditioning work as a source of supplemental income. He and Jules often partner on these jobs, not only to serve clients with excellence but also to bless those in true need, reflecting the generous heart of Christ.
Among his greatest accomplishments, Rocco considers the transformative moment on January 10, 2025, when the Lord illuminated both his and his wife’s hearts. In a sacred exchange of confession and repentance, they experienced deep healing and a new beginning in their marriage. Since that day, their relationship has blossomed into something more beautiful than he ever imagined—bathed in prayer, rooted in daily time in the Word, and marked by mutual pursuit, understanding, and joy. He often says, “Our marriage is at a level I didn’t even know was possible. God is so good!”
In this new season, Rocco feels a strong call to minister to men who are trapped in sexual addiction and pornography. He carries a burden for husbands, helping them understand that true transformation in marriage begins when they allow the Lord to change their own hearts first. His message is clear: when a man aligns his heart with Christ and intentionally pursues and learns his wife, everything else begins to fall into place.
Rocco lives his life with contagious enthusiasm and a singular cry that defines his walk:
“Jeeeeesuuuuuus—there’s no other name!!!”
When it comes to summing up one of his favorite and most important parts of Plays On Word, Rocco can't help but quote that line from one of Ted's own original songs yet again...
